Abstract

The operative treatment of peritrochanteric femur fractures remains a challenge to orthopedic surgeons. Achieving reduction and stabilization without causing massive soft-tissue injury is often difficult and technique dependent. A closed or semi-closed operative approach is preferred and a thorough understanding of instrumentation, reduction maneuvers, and intraoperative complications is essential to a successful outcome.
