Abstract

To demonstrate the successful percutaneous removal of a tiny needle fracture from the heart with the use of a guide wire with a magnet at its distal end and two snares through both femoral veins. We report a rare case of a tiny needle fracture in the apex of the right ventricle of the heart in a drug abuser after its migration from the neck through the lumen of the right internal jugular vein. The procedure of the percutaneous approach and removal of this tiny foreign body was extremely difficult and dangerous due to its location and tiny size. This percutaneous technique for the removal of a tiny foreign body from the heart was proven to be both effective and safe for the patient, and it provides a good therapeutic option for removal of intracardiac foreign bodies.
