Abstract

During a two year period percutaneous cardiac catheterization under local anesthesia was performed on the venous side in 89 children and on the arterial side in 73. In children under 1 year of age venous percutaneous catheterization failed more often than did arterial percutaneous catheterization. In children above this age percutaneous catheterization was nearly always successful. A specially designed catheter for percutaneous angiocardiography was used.
