Abstract

A perovskite-structured solid solution BaCe 1− x Er x O 3 at high doping level was demonstrated to have percolation properties. In the special case that this system is partitioned into a mixture of two phases whose fractions vary with concentration of Er ions, the anomalous behavior of protonic conduction is explained by the existence of a percolation threshold near x=0.3.
