Abstract

This Journal AWWA monthly column offers sometimes tongue in cheek musings about issues, trends, politics and events as they relate to both AWWA and the water industry in general. This month's column talks about: global and local water imperatives to be discussed at AWWA's 90th annual conference; New Jersey's confrontational stance on the subject of water quality; the pressure for good accounting procedures; the decision of Walter Reuther, president of the United Auto Workers, to call for a ban on the internal combustion engine; the impact of pollution on oceanic wildlife; and, the use of beer as a replacement for insecticides.
