Abstract

Conscious perception of the apparent time of occurrence of the second of two closely spaced stimuli was examined using an' extended movement A considerable perceptual delay was found whether or not the response to the second stimulus curtailed the primary response. This delay was found whether the second stimulus occurred during the movement response to the first stimulus or during the reaction time to the first stimulus. At present there appears to be no satisfactory explanation of the phenomenon.
