Abstract
Temporal-order judgments were used to obtain evidence that a later stimulus can delay the perception of an earlier one; at least when the two stimuli together produce the phenomena of metacontrast or apparent motion. This evidence supports the notion that metacontrast and apparent motion are mediated by the same mechanism.
