Abstract

Plagiarism undermines the very purpose of obtaining education, and plagiarising final theses diminishes the value of university education in society. Therefore, it is necessary to tackle this issue in all university courses, including foreign language courses. Stemming from the definition of plagiarism and its classification the paper aims to analyse how students perceive plagiarism. The analysis of students’ perception of plagiarism is based on a questionnaire distributed among students at the University of Economics in Bratislava. A Likert scale was used to measure students’ attitudes. The goal of the study is to provide the ground for a better understanding of plagiarism from students’ viewpoints and thus help find effective ways how to eliminate this phenomenon.
