Abstract

In the present study an effort has been made to find out the perception of teacher of technical and non-technical higher education institutions about Foreign Direct Investment in higher education in India. The sample was comprised of 100 teachers (50 from technical & 50 from non-technical institutions) form Cuttack city. A perception scale was developed by Likert method by the researcher to collect the data. Both descriptive and inferential statistical modes of treatments were adopted like percentage, Mean, SD, and t-test. The results reveal that the perception of teachers of technical and non-technical institutions towards foreign direct investment for quality higher education differs significantly. (M1=88.43, M2=77.92, t-6.49, df =98). Majority of teachers (84%) from technical higher education institutions reported FDI in higher education guarantees access of students to the best universities of world. Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education can be enhanced by FDI (more than 70% of teachers from technical and non-technical higher education institutions reported to. Most of the technical education teachers (74%) reported that quality higher education can be ensured by FDI where as 54% of non-technical teachers contradicted the opinion.
