Abstract

Perception has a psychological basis and it is necessary to appreciate its application that it is not simply allied with 'sensation'. There is a gap in the knowledge of the perception of dental appearance by patients, which has implication for workers in dental organizations. This narrative review of literature highlights these perceptions and their importance/ implications for dental workers. The search strategies used related published articles from 1969 and 2 010. Within the limits of the na rrative review done in this paper, dental pa tient's perception is an important factor in the diagnosis and eventual successful management of the conditi on by dental professionals.
