Abstract

One of the main challenges in the team-based project assessment is to evaluate the student's individual contributions, especially when the students work remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this study, the student's perception of their teammates' contribution to the course project will be examined. This study will focus on assessing the soft skills aspect, such as the student's role, commitment, responsibility and awareness in a team. 42 students that are participated in the course will fill out an end-semester questionnaire. In general, students assess themselves in a more lenient than their teammates. Furthermore, the students tend to have a low profile in assessing themselves. It can be interpreted that they tend to have low self-confidence about their role in a team. Therefore, the results of this study can be used to improve the course project implementation, especially to assist the students in having higher confidence in their ability, capability and role in a group-based project. In addition, this study also shows that the instructor should not only rely on student peers' assessment and self-assessment.
