Abstract

Political attitudes and public opinion in post-war Spain are becoming the focus of increasing attention by historians. This article examines their development through ordinary people’s perceptions of Francoist institutions. Mainly based on material from the Communist Party archive concerning the situation in the province of Valencia, the main focus of the article is on the experience of the working and urban middle classes.
