Abstract
The purpose of this study was to show how the traditional bonds between the elders and younger members of the family are gradually becoming weak. The major focus of inquiry is the nature and decline of status in old age. Powerlessness, alienation, loss of respectability, loss of authority are the major points of analysis.Findings in this study indicated a high positive correlation between these variables and old age in Nigeria.
