Abstract

Syair Saiban and Zainab Asyamiyah (hereinafter abbreviated as SSZA) is one of the texts contained in the anthology text entitled ""Bahwa Inilah Kitab Yang Dinamai Akan Dia Gemala Mestika Pada Menyatakan Membahagi Pusaka". This manuscript is stored in the British Library with an inventory code EAP153-6-2. SSZA is a Malay text that is assumed to be the result of translation from Arabic texts. This SSZA text was finished copying on Penyengat Island, with a thickness of 18 pages. This SSZA text contains guidance on husband and wife relationships that are bound in a legal marriage. However, the presence of images and photos that are spread evenly on almost every page of the manuscript, making SSZA appear as a unique text with its own characteristics. The unique characteristics of the SSZA are sometimes misinterpreted and even considered "vulgar" when compared to the existence of other Malay texts. Therefore, the writer tries to compare SSZA with Ghayat al-Muna who visually have many similarities or similarities of unique characteristics. In addition, the author also aims to reveal the history and or social values that are relevant to life when the text was written.
