Abstract

In the learning process at the elementary school level, students acquire knowledge with a concrete operational stage of development requiring real tools that make learning more meaningful in order to achieve learning objectives. Matters that can support the implementation of effective learning by using concrete and simple media that exist in the surrounding environment are real to help explore the cognitive abilities of students' mathematics content as a form of independent learning implementation. Therefore, it is necessary to apply an appropriate model to organize the learning process for a large number of students in one class and minimize the low cognitive abilities of students. This study aims to provide an innovation with the application of an inquiry model, to produce an effective mathematics learning process with the orientation of increasing the cognitive abilities of 3rd grade students at SD N 6 Ngabul, totaling 38 children. The data collection technique was carried out by interviewing the 3rd grade teacher of SD N 6 Ngabul which was carried out on March 23, 2022. Data analysis was carried out by describing the results of interviews and observations during the learning process. The results showed that the classroom conditions were not conducive, namely 38 students plus teachers who still used conventional methods, namely lectures and questions and answers
