Abstract

The supervisory function of Notaries by the Regional Supervisory Council (Majelis Pengawas Daerah, MPD) through the Notary Monitoring Electronic Information System (Siemon) in Sleman Regency faces several obstacles, namely those related to inadequacy of networks and human resources, especially senior notaries with lack of mastery on technological developments. The formulation of the problem is how to optimize the role of the Regional Supervisory Council in supervising Notaries through Siemon in Sleman Regency. This study uses an empirical legal approach, which examines the applicable legal provisions and what actually happens in society. The results of the study explain that the obstacles experienced by MPD towards supervision of Notaries through Siemon have been reduced compared to before this Siemon was enforced. Optimizing the role of the MPD in conducting supervision related to Notaries who do not upload all files or documents to the Siemon system and requires MPD members to continue to visit the Notary's office in seeking the truth of data and guidance to the Notary. The presence of Siemon makes it easier for the MPD to supervise the Notary, because all data and performance of the Notary has been recorded in the system and will be given an assessment of whether the Notary has carried out their duties properly
