Abstract

The objective of this research is to elucidate the significance of librarian ingenuity in augmenting students' inclination towards reading at SMPN 3 Banguntapan. The qualitative research method was employed, employing a case study approach. The data was procured through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results demonstrated that the librarians at SMPN 3 Banguntapan have implemented diverse innovations and creative tactics in their library services, which encompass captivating programs, compilation of collections tailored to students' interests, and collaboration with teachers to support literary pursuits. The principal discovery of this investigation is that librarian inventiveness manifests a beneficial impact on students' reading interest. The students exhibited heightened involvement in library activities, greater enthusiasm towards reading books, and more active participation in the literary programs organized. Furthermore, the students' reading interest was also observed to escalate due to their enhanced comprehension of the value of reading and facilitated access to reading materials. In results, the significance of librarian creativity in kindling students' reading interest at SMPN 3 Banguntapan is of paramount importance. By persistently cultivating innovations and creative strategies, the librarians can assume a more efficacious role in augmenting students' reading interest and bolstering literacy development in this educational institution.
