Abstract

Public service is a basic service in the administration of government. Public service is an important indicator in assessing the concept of government, both at the central and regional levels. Good and quality service has implications for satisfaction to the community, because the community directly assesses the performance of the services provided. The indicator of community satisfaction is the benchmark for the success of government administration. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive form, the subjects in this study are the Village Head, Village Secretary, Head of Service, and the Community. The data analysis technique uses the theory of Miles and Huberman, namely by using data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study can be concluded that the role of the Village Head in increasing the effectiveness of public services at the Gonis Tekam Village Office, Sekadau Hilir District has played a good role despite the long bureaucracy and overlapping duties and authorities, which results in public services taking a long time to be implemented. Lack of clarity about service standards and procedures causes low external supervision of public services from the community. The reality of public services at the Gonis Tekam Village Office, Sekadau Hilir District, is in accordance with service standards where the procedures for service are easy and uncomplicated. The efforts made by the Gonis Tekam Village Head in Improving the Effectiveness of Public Services are evaluating the performance of village officials and increasing the work discipline of village officials. The obstacles for the village head Gonis Tekam in improving the effectiveness of public services are the lack of understanding of employees in village administration, lack of discipline of village officials at work
