Abstract

Research on mammalian cell cycle control focuses on the points discussed below. Peptide growth factors are multifunctional regulators of growth and differentiation that act by autocrine and paracrine mechanisms. Gene transcription changes are key steps in the control of the G 02G 1⇒S transition of the cell cycle. Both peptide growth factors and classical tropic hormones, are capable of rapidly modulating transcription through the induction of genes ( fosljun) that encode nuclear transregulator proteins.
