Abstract

Satisfactory clinical results are reported in sixty-seven of seventy-six cases of peptic ulcer treated with posterior pituitary preparations. Intranasal insufflation of posterior pituitary powder has proved to be the most satisfactory mode of administration. Neither a strict dietary regime nor other medication has been employed and the patients have remained ambulatory for the purpose of evaluating this therapy. Posterior pituitary preparations should be considered complementary to the accepted principles of peptic ulcer management. The theoretical basis for the use of pituitrin in treatment of gastro-duodenal ulcers is discussed and experiments related thereto are described.
