Abstract
Scientific and cultural changes have brought convenient and diverse lifestyles in modern society. At the same time, these advances have brought about some side effects, including chemical, physiological, physical, and environmental factors. With diverse scalp problems due to such effects, there has been a rising interest in shampoo, which directly reaches the scalp and is used every day. As consumption values focus more on individuals and personality these days, it is anticipated that people’s interest in ‘customized shampoo’ will increase. This study aimed to investigate people’s perception of ‘customized shampoo’ and their consumption and use patterns, and the results can be used as basic data for future studies on customized cosmetics. The results found that most respondents were far from a correct diagnosis and perception of their scalp conditions. Even though they understand the necessity of using hair cosmetics according to their scalp conditions, they have not used customized shampoo due to a lack of information. Since few respondents have used customized cosmetics, it was impossible to acquire accurate efficacies and effects. The fact that only a few people use customized cosmetics means that there should be more emphasis on the awareness and development of customized cosmetics manufacturing and distribution. It is expected that the study results would help promote the customized cosmetics industry according to people’s needs through diverse studies on customized cosmetics.
