Abstract

Such management theories as social exchange, equity and incentives are called into play to probe, from an array of perspectives, into the functionality and role of the employee in people-oriented concept as it is used in contemporary hospital management. The paper also analyzed the dialectical relationship between the concept of employee-orientation and that of patients or customers orientation, and the dialectical relationship between people-orientation model and policy-orientation model It pinpoints the mistake of overemphasizing patients or customer orientation and neglecting employee management in hospital management, proposing a people-oriented path centering on employees in hospital management.
