Abstract

What is the first column that you read when opening the latest issue of your favorite magazine? If you do not jump to the “People in Control” column, you are an outlier. Most people tell me that it is the first (if not the only) column they read. I, myself, enjoy reading those interviews. They remind me of the diversity of conversations during a conference banquet, when we routinely speak around the same table with individuals from six or seven different nations, cultures, backgrounds, ages, and genders. We all share a common language, and we can all grasp the gritty allusion to the plenary lecture of the morning but through such a diversity of lenses! It is a blessing of our profession to experience the diversity of humanity: always for the better and never for the worse.
