Abstract

The author identifies three eschatological positions that have become associated with Classical Pentecostalism: imminent futurist eschatology, pre-millennialism, and eschatological significance attached to the nation state of Israel. These may be described as Pentecostal eschatological distinctives. They are each analysed and evaluated, particularly in terms of their Pentecostal origins and their nature as correctives to other eschatological positions. The suggestion is made that their value is properly maintained only as they exist in on-going dialogue and tension with the eschatological distinctives of other Christian groupings outside the Classical Pentecostal framework
