Abstract
The Esping-Andersen 's book is now translated in French. This is a major contribution to all reflexion on comparative analysis of Welfare-States. This paper sets out its theoretical and empirical fondations and relates the debates and critics that it continues to cause on three points : the treatment of women 's question, the status of Southern Europe in its model, its connection with the contemporary transformations of Welfare.
