FIGURE 1 During penile prosthesis insertion, penile pump placement is important. Patient satisfaction can be highly influenced by a malpositioned penile pump. The layers of the scrotum are depicted. Ideally, the penile pump is placed in the midline in a space developed by incising the midline scrotal-spongiosal septum, in between the external and internal spermatic fascia, and secured with sutures.
