Abstract

Abstract A description is provided for Penicillium hirsutum . Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOSTS: Found in the rhizosphere of vegetables, and those of the genus Allium in particular. Also found on bulbs of the Liliaceae . DISEASES: Causes rots in bulbs and corms of flowering plants such as tulips, iris and crocus. GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Worldwide.
