Their results seem to conflict with those of previous retrospective studies (2, 3). The dose of parenteral penicillin G chosen, 6 million units/d was possibly insufficient. The substitution of penicillin V and dose used may have been subtherapeutic when compared to the oral dose of clindamycin selected.Recently, Edson and colleagues (4) showed that during the past 10 years the minimum inhibitory concentration for some strains of various anaerobes has been increasing and was secondary to the production of beta-lactamase....
