Abstract
Abstract. The shape of the city plays a role in sustainability strategies because it will directly affect the issues of energy, urban vitality, and environmental sustainability. Semarang City is one of the five metropolitan cities in Indonesia which in the Semarang City RTRW 2011-2031 applies the concept of mixed-use. However, there are still many applications of this concept that focus on economic-oriented superblocks without regard to environmental sustainability, therefore the purpose of this study is to measure the degree of mixed-use in Semarang City and assess its sustainability performance. The methods used in this study are mixed-use measurement which focuses on proximity and interaction of key land uses and sustainable performance assessment using the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED-ND) tool. The results of this study show that Semarang City has the majority of mixed-use degrees at medium and high levels while the highest mixed-use degrees are in West Semarang District. In the LEED-ND assessment in West Semarang District, it was found that the sustainability value is quite low in the aspect of Smart Location Linkage, which has the aim of reducing vehicle trips and mileage so that it is related to the provision of transportation infrastructure. Furthermore, the Neighbourhood Pattern Design aspect also has a fairly low sustainability value, especially in the variables of Walkable Street and Compact Development, which have the aim of movement efficiency and habitability so that it is related to the provision of compact housing and pedestrian paths. Therefore, special attention is needed in development planning to achieve the LEED assessment pre-requirement standards based on these aspects.Submitted: 2024-03-02 Revisions: 2024-04-02 Accepted: 2024-09-11 Published: 2024-09-18
