Abstract
Sometimes women experience pain when menstruating, but some people have less information abouthandling it by applying warm compress. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of providing lessons regarding the management of menstrual pain with warm compresses on the knowledge of female teenagers in Dharma Wanita Gresik Vocational School. This study used a sample of 235 Dharma Wanita Gresik Vocational School students. MacNemar test was used as analysis method. The results showed that before the lessons given, about 192 students (81.7%) had less knowledge about handling dysmenorrhoea. But after the counseling about menstrual pain (dysmenorrhoea) and its treatment by applying warm compresses the knowledge of students is getting better by 219 students (93.3%). From the MacNemar test results obtained value ɑ = 0,000, it shows that students' knowledge about menstrual pain (dysmenorrhoea) and its treatment with warm compresses has been increased.
