Abstract

This study aimed to formulate an anti-leucorrhoea liquid soap containing Allamanda cathartica L. leaf extract and to test its activity against Candida albicans. The maceration method was used to extract Allamanda cathartica L. leaves using 96% ethanol. The extract was used as a replacement for synthetic active ingredients in the anti-leucorrhoea liquid soap. After testing for minimum inhibitory concentration, the Allamanda cathartica L. leaf extract was formulated into formulas I, II, and III. The results of the organoleptic evaluation, pH, viscosity, foam stability, and microbial contamination showed that all three formulas met the predetermined requirements. The antifungal activity test on the preparation with 20% Allamanda cathartica L. leaf extract concentration showed the best results in formula III, with a inhibition diameter of 18.36 ± 0.38 mm against Candida albicans. The results of hedonic testing using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov analysis showed that overall, the panelists rated the shape, fragrance, and astringent impression positively, while on the parameter of foaminess, the panelists gave a negative rating.

Keywords: anti-leucorrhoea liquid soap, Allamanda cathartica L. leaf extract, Candida albicans, antifungal activity.
