Abstract

This research aims to develop an application for selecting academic programs through a series of steps, ranging from problem identification to system design and development. The application facilitates users in choosing a study program by considering factors such as the department, field of study, sub-field, and domain of knowledge. The front-end development leverages HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, while the back-end is constructed using PHP and MySQLi, implementing the Forward Chaining method. System testing is conducted using Black Box testing, evaluating 5 predetermined scenarios, and the results demonstrate the smooth functionality of the system. The application is tested by 20 students from Muhammadiyah Selayar Private High School, with 6 coming from the Natural Sciences program and 14 from the Social Sciences program. In its implementation, students select study programs, and the outcomes reveal that Management Science and Economics are the most frequently chosen programs. This research has the potential to serve as a reference for readers interested in developing similar applications. Additionally, the concept of this application can be applied to Android-based development and adapted for various departments, including within vocational schools (SMKs).
