Abstract

The findings are aimed by this research was to understand, analyze and prove that there was a significant influence of stress towards students’ commitment to finish their education with anxiety factors as the moderating variable. Besides, this research tried to answer the research questions whether the stress moderated by anxiety factor had a significant influence towards students’ commitment to finish their study or not. Analysis model used in this research was a multiple linier regression with two trial phases, that is formulating regression formula without moderating variable and regression formula with moderating variable to strengthen the influence. The regression formula without moderating variable resulted from data processing was written by this equation : Y = 2.776 + 0.366X1 - 0.146X2 - 0.076X3 + 0.168X4. The regression formula with moderating variable resulted from data processing was written by this equation : Y = 4.937 + 0.004X1 - 0.078X2 - 0.049X3 + 0.020X4. In conclusion, the stress factors that consist of role conflict, role ambiguity, role overload and time pressure had an influence towards students’ commitment to finish their study simultaneously, where the value of F was 33,880 with significant level of 0,000. The value of R square among the variables was 0,313 or 31,3% and the left value of 68,7% have been influenced by other variables. The stress factors that consist of role conflict, role ambiguity, role overload and time pressure partially had a significant or dominant influence. Meanwhile, role overload did not have a significant or dominant influence partially towards students’ commitment to finish their study. By using anxiety factors as moderating variable, simultaneously the stress factors had influence towards students’ commitment to finish their study, where the value of F was = 25.175 with significant level of 0,000. The value of R square among the variables was 0,253 or 25,3% and the left value of 68,7% have been influenced by other variables (outside from this research model). Partially, only role ambiguity and role overload had a dominant or significant influence towards students’ commitment to finish their study with significant value less than 0,05. Meanwhile, role conflict and time pressure did not have a dominant or significant influence partially towards students’ commitment to finish their study. The findings showed about anxiety factors as moderating variable was not able to strengthen the influence of stress factors towards students’ commitment to finish their study at Airlangga University.
