Abstract

Today, there are still communities that still discuss vocational education. Looking down on the ability of this education, the question that arises is to know the perception of the community (parents) towards the acceptance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). "Do they know and follow from time to time the development of this vocational education?". The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of the role of parents on the admission of students to technical and vocational institutions. By using a systematic literature review (SLR) technique, the researcher used several well-known electronic databases to find journal articles that were studied starting from 2015 to 2022, namely Education Resource Information Center (ERIC), Emerald Insight, Connected Paper, Google, Google Scholar, Sagepub, ResearchGate and Academia. A total of 20 articles were found to meet the criteria to be studied. Findings show that parental support comes in various forms and among the sub-themes derived from the theme of parental support are active involvement, love, discipline formation and the influence of interest. However, these studies are limited and many focus on the influence of parents and student academic excellence. Therefore, further research using experimental methods to investigate interventions to foster high school students' interest in TVET institutions should be conducted.
