Abstract

This study revealed finding on the influence of newspaper contents to religious prejudice in Palu, in an Islamic law sociological study perspective. The study put forward that (1) the influence of the newspaper content to readers’ attitudes concerning religious prejudice was relatively small, (2) the intensity of reading news on religious prejudice was positive, but the effect was relatively small, (3) the influence of social group to newspaper reader attitude on religious prejudice was very high indicating tendency that the more people interact with their own social group of their own religion, the more they have religious prejudices. (4) the news content, the intensity of news reading and social groups altogether had a positive effect on religious prejudice. This suggested tendency that the news content siding with a certain religious group would affect perception, knowledge and trends (attitudes) of readers. They would side with their own religion group and had a negative prejudice against different group of religion. Keywords: Newspapers Preaching, Religious Prejudice, Palu City.
