Abstract

This study aims to find out and analyze the effect of motivation and competence on employee performance at the South Sulawesi Provincial Social Service. This study was carried out using a quantitative descriptive approach to obtain a complete picture of the variables studied. This type of survey research is analyzing the data needed to support the discussion of research in solving and answering the problems that have been formulated. Data analysis used in this research is Multiple Linear Regression. Based on the results of the analysis of this study prove motivation has a positive and insignificant effect on employee performance as evidenced by the significance (prob) = 0.985 which indicates above of the probability (sig) = 0,000 <α = 0.05 and the contribution value b1 = 0.001 or 0, 01%, while the influence of competence on the performance of employees in the Social Service of South Sulawesi Province showed a positive and significant effect on employee performance as evidenced by the significance (prob) = 0,000 below α = 0.05. Of the two independent variables, the competency variable (X2) has the largest and most dominant coefficient.
