Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of exploring the impact of the cooperative learning model type "make a match" on students' scientific communication skills, particularly focused on the human circulatory system material. The research adopts a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects of the study consisted of students from classes VIII-A and VIII-C at SMP Negeri 3 Keruak, totaling 48 students. Data was collected through tests using essay questions to assess students' scientific communication skills. Hypothesis analysis was performed using the Independent Sample T-Test, while the effectiveness of the "make a match" learning model and the conventional learning model aided by PowerPoint media in improving students' scientific communication skills was measured using the N-Gain test. The results of the study indicate that the "make a match" learning model has a significant impact on students' scientific communication skills, particularly on the human circulatory system material. The N-Gain test results for the experimental class were 0.59 and for the control class were 0.31, confirming that the "make a match" learning model has a relatively high effectiveness in enhancing students' scientific communication skills related to this material.
