Abstract

Indonesia is one of the developing countries in the world, which is ranked 4th with the largest population in the world. Indonesia has policies to control population growth, including through the Family Planning (KB) program. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of counseling and husband's support on contraceptive decision-making during the postpartum period at the Payung Health Center in 2023. The current method is a one group pretest post test design. The population of prospective family planning acceptors at Payung Health Center with a sample of 100 respondents. Data is taken by using a questionnaire. Data analysis with sample t-test t-test. Based on the results and discussion of the study there was a difference between the group that was given counseling and the group that was not given counseling with p <0.001, there was a difference between the group that was given support by the husband (> 50%) and the group that was not given support by the husband (<50%) . Respondents who had been given counseling determined that the decision making for contraceptives during the postpartum period was appropriate (1.84%) It can be concluded that husband's counseling and support are very effective in increasing the decision-making of prospective acceptor contraceptives. It is recommended that health workers continue to provide counseling to each prospective acceptor to improve the quality of decision-making on contraceptives in order to choose the right contraceptive method and according to the needs of prospective acceptors.
