Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship and influence of mathematics anxiety levels on students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving PISA-based math problems. This research is quantitative research with the associative method. The population covered by this study were students of SMAN 1 Batam in the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year who came from a population that was normally distributed and homogeneous, with one class being selected as the research sample. The data collection technique used a mathematical anxiety questionnaire and mathematical reasoning ability test questions based on PISA questions. Furthermore, the data obtained were analyzed using correlation analysis techniques and simple linear regression tests. The results showed that there was a negative relationship between math anxiety and students' mathematical reasoning ability with a correlation of -0.178 and there was no significant effect between math anxiety on students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving math problems based on PISA.
