Abstract

One of the efforts to increase corn seed production with repairs cultivation corn plants techniques. The way to repairs with modification planting distance and leaf defoliate. This study aims to determine the effect of the planting distance and time intervals of leaf defoliation toward production of corn seed. The research was conducted on the research fields in State Polytechnic of Jember from August until November 2022. The research used factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) method with 3 replications. The data will be analyzed using ANOVA and continued with DMRT test at 5% level. The first factor is the planting distance of (70 × 20 cm), (70 × 25 cm), and (70 × 30 cm). The second factor is the time intervals of leaf defoliation 56 days after planting, 63 days after planting, and 70 days after planting. The result showed that the planting distance and time intervals of leaf defoliation gave the significant effect for almost all parameters. The interaction between planting distance of (70 × 30 cm) and time intervals of leaf defoliation 70 days after planting has significant effect on the parameters of cob weight (316,01 gram), seed weight per cob (201,58 gram), and seed production per hectare (7,04 ton/Ha).
