Abstract

The ball mill machine functions to reduce and crush large-sized materials into powder sizes in the grinding bowl by the grinding media. Excitation is a disturbance that occurs due to the unbalanced mass inertial force of the rotating component. The average fineness of the powder produced by the type of excitation force from the ball mill was calculated using a Retsch vibrating sieve machine following ASTM E11 standards. The best level of fineness was obtained when the grinding media was 4 mm in diameter with a total of 15 pieces resulting a powder fineness of 81.42695 µm. The worst fineness level was obtained when the grinding media had a diameter of 12 mm and a total of 5 pieces with a powder fineness of 94.89823 µm.
