Perkembangan teknologi yang semakin pesat dengan penggunaan komputer sebagai sarana untuk membantu manusia dalam memperoleh informasi dan mengatasi masalah, menuntut para pembuat perangkat lunak untuk mencari inovasi secara optimal dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan kinerja baik secara kuantitas maupun kualitas. Hal tersebut penting untuk mendukung pengambilan keputusan agar dapat dilakukan dengan baik dan tepat.
