Abstract

This study aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes of fourth grade students at SD Negeri 1 Talang Mandi by applying the STAD type cooperative learning model. The background in this study is the low learning outcomes of Mathematics, seen from 31 students, only 12 people who received grades according to the KKM of the school. The remaining 19 people have not yet reached the KKM. This is also reinforced by the suboptimal ability of students to understand the material. This can be seen from the many mistakes students make in pretest questions. The research method was Classroom Action Research which was carried out in 2 cycles with stages namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Data collection techniques are observation, test, and documentation techniques. Data collection tool uses observation sheets and test results of learning. Data analysis techniques using the analysis of teacher and student activities, and analysis of student learning outcomes. Students absorption 58.1 with enough categories in the first cycle increased to 62.3 with good categories in the second cycle. Classical student mastery learning has been achieved, namely in cycle I was 58% (less) increased in cycle II to 94% (very good). Student activities in the first cycle with enough categories and in the second cycle increased with very good categories. The average activity of the teacher during the STAD type cooperative learning process in cycles I and II is very good. In the first cycle of student activity amounted to 71.4%. While in the second cycle, teacher activity was 91.4%. It can be concluded using the STAD type cooperative learning model can develop student creativity and increase interaction between students and teachers so that they can achieve the expected results
