Abstract

The teaching and learning process in schools so far the teachers have experienced difficulties in explaining learning material, especially in writing skills, especially in writing description text material so that the Indonesian language scores of students are still low. The purpose of this study was to find out whether the Critical Thinking model could improve the learning outcomes of class VII / A students in the Indonesian language subject, the subject of Writing Descriptive Text at SMP Negeri 1 Angsana, Pandeglang Regency in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. This research is a classroom action research, using the steps of planning, acting and reflecting. The sampling technique of this research was taken from all existing populations and used as samples without selecting information, as samples were students of class VII / A SMP Negeri 1 Angsana, Pandeglang Regency, amounting to 28 students. The results showed that with the Critical Thinking Approach the learning outcomes of students in each cycle had increased as evidenced by the 50% pre-cycle students' learning completeness, (average value 66) increased in the first cycle reaching 79% (average value 78) while in the cycle II completeness of student learning has increased to 100%, (average value is 79), thus it can be concluded that the Critical Thinking Approach can improve student learning outcomes in Indonesian subjects in Writing Description Text materials.
