Abstract
In people's lives there are often various kinds of hierarchical differences, ranging from differences in economics, politics, religion, race, geographical conditions, and even differences in education levels which often lead to more acute disparities and levels of social interaction in society. One of the main sources of social stratification is education. As it should be, education that has clear and potential functions and goals can make students mature, or recognize themselves and education should be a tool to improve the social status of the community, not the other way around.

PENDAHULUAN Setiap lingkungan masyarakat senantiasa mempunyai pandangan tertentu terhadap hal penghargaaan tertentu dalam masyarakat yang bersangkutan. 1 Penghargaan yang lebih tinggi terhadap hal-hal tertentu, akan menempatkan hal tersebut pada kedudukan yang lebih tinggi dari hal-hal lainnya

ABSTRAK: In people's lives there are often various kinds of hierarchical differences, ranging from differences in economics, politics, religion, race, geographical conditions, and even differences in education levels which often lead to more acute disparities and levels of social interaction in society. Sorokin menyatakan bahwa social stratification adalah pengelompokan penduduk atau masyarakat ke dalam kelas-kelas secara bertingkat (hierarkis).[4] Menurut Soekanto, sifat sistem pelapisan dalam masyarakat dapat bersifat tertutup dan terbuka.[5] Sistem tertutup dapat diartikan sebagai sistem tertutup, yang membatasi kemungkinan orang berpindah dari satu lapisan ke lapisan lainnya dalam. Masyarakat dengan sistem stratifikasi sosial terbuka, memandang bahwa pendidikan sebagai suatu sarana yang penting untuk naik kelas dalam suatu tangga sosial.[7] Mereka juga memandang luas jika pendidikan merupakan upaya manusia untuk memperluas wawasan pengetahuannya untuk membentuk nilai, sikap, dan perilaku.[8] Sebagai upaya yang tidak hanya menghasilkan manfaat yang besar, pendidikan juga merupakan salah satu cara untuk menjadikan masyarakat sebagai manusia yang seutuhnya.[9].
