Abstract
This study aims to portray the character education contained in the Bugis community that many people do not know about it. For the Bugis community, local knowledge is not just a mere habit, but customs is a prerequisite for human life. Suku bangsa Bugis adalah satu etnik di Indonesia yang termasuk ke dalam rumpun keluarga besar Austronesia yang mendiami bagian selatan pulau Sulawesi. Populasi mereka lebih dari tiga juta orang.. Situasi sosial seperti ini menunjukkan begitu luasnya pengaruh dan ruang geografis perantau Bugis ingga saat ini. Pelras menggambarkan bahwa dari ujung timur hingga ujung barat Nusantara dapat dijumpai orang Bugis yang sibuk dengan aktivitas pelayaran, perdagangan, pertanian, pembukaan lahan perkebunan di hutan, atau pekerjaan apa saja yang mereka anggap sesuai dengan kondisi ruang dan waktu.. Situasi seperti itu dapat kita jumpai juga misalnya masyarakat Bugis adalah satu dari kelompok masyarakat pendatang.Perantauan orang Bugis pada umumnya bersifat spontan dan sukarela.
