Abstract

The clinical features, histology, and immunopathology of pemphigus allow it to be divided into two categories. Pemphigus vulgaris is the most common clinical type of pemphigus, and pemphigus vegetans is a variant. Pemphigus foliaceus is a disease of less severity and occurs less commonly than pemphigus vulgaris in North America. Pemphigus erythematosus is considered to be a variant of pemphigus foliaceus. Pemphigus with thymoma and myasthenia gravis, pemphigus and malignant disease, and induced pemphigus are also discussed.
