Abstract

The purpose of this study was to get a picture of improvingstudent learning outcomes with special learning difficultiesin science lessons through a contextual approach at SD 15Manado. The research method used was classroom actionresearch on grade VI students of SD GMIM 15 Manado. Thisclass action research was carried out in one cycle using thefollowing procedure: (1) planning, (2) implementing theaction (3) observing, and (4) reflecting. Data collectionconsists of: 1) Learning outcomes data obtained throughwritten tests, 2) Data about the learning process situation isobtained through observation sheets, 3) Data about therelationship between planning and implementation of actionsis obtained through observation sheets. The researchinstruments included written tests, worksheets andobservation sheets. Qualitative data will be analyzed usingqualitative analysis. The results showed (a) the objectivesexpected in this proposed study were to improve studentlearning outcomes that continuously learn about cellmaterial, organs and organ systems through contextuallearning models achieving mastery learning by groups; (b)the hypothesis of the prescribed actions is acceptable, namelythe learning of cells, organs and organ systems usingcontextual through a contextual learning model, the results ofcontinuous student learning achieve mastery learning ingroups.Keywords: special learning difficulties, science lessons, contextualapproach.
