Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe argumentatively the follow-up that needs to be done by university lecturers and their university of the result of students' evaluation of the lectures that have been conducted. The evaluation of a university lecture is a decision-making process of assessing the process and result of the lecture based on collected facts and infonnation. It can be executed internally and externally. University lecturers seldom make an evaluation of their lectures for reasons of limited time and unavailability of any valid instrument. Even though evaluation of the lectures by students is already a policy of the university, utilization of the result is not optimum yet. The evaluation of such lectures should involve the students because they are the ones who are to be the most concerned about the results of the lecturing process and they already have enough ability to evaluate the process. Generally, questionnaires are the instruments used to collect the infonnation and data in evaluating the lectures. The result ofsuch evaluation is useful as feedback and basis for making improvements, detennining the accountability, and monitoring and controlling the quality of education. As a follow-up, university lecturers and the university can adopt the following agenda: (l) making decisions, (2) improving the quality of lectures and conducting classroom action research, (3) establishing a standard for lecturing quality, and (4) establishing an assurance of the university's quality
