Abstract

Introduction: The absence of the classic risk factors for pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and the triad of cervical motion, uterine or adnexal tenderness does not preclude the diagnosis of PID and tubo-ovarian abscess (TOA). Despite the rarity with which PID occurs in perimenopausal women, consideration and early recognition of the diagnosis is crucial.
